The Quirino Grandstand Hostage Taking Videos.
An ex-policeman armed with an automatic rifle has taken hostage a bus with 24 mostly Hong Kong tourists in the Philippine capital Manila. Nine were released and the gunman demanded to be reinstated before freeing the rest. He let go of two women, three children, a diabetic man and three Filipinos. Apart from demanding his reinstatement, the hostage-taker, identified as former Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza also wanted to talk to the Philippine media and asked that his son, also a policeman, be brought to him.
Philippine commandos have stormed the bus with 15 Chinese tourists held hostage by a former policeman, ending the 11-hour standoff in Manila. Eight of the hostages have been confirmed dead. The gunman has also been killed in the storming. The operation started with police firing on the bus' tires to immobilize it, then using hammers to smash windows, doors and windscreen. They were forced to withdraw after a series of hunshots rang out from inside the vehicle, but renewed the storming later.
