This is just a concept. This will allow your iPod touch to send sms and make calls(theoretically) to a GSM network through a WiFi connection.
You need:
1. GSM modem
2. SIM card
3. PC
4. jailbroken iPod touch
5. WiFi Connection
6. an app to make SMS messages, make calls, and connect to the PC
7. a app (for the PC) that relays the ipod touch to the gsm modem

I want to do it as a project, but i don't have funds.
EDIT: Note that this may also turn any WiFi enabled device into a phone.
