YouKu: a chinese movie version of YouTube

Youku, does it sound familiar? Well, its really like youtube except it's in chinese. If you haven't been there before, it's a youtube-like site that allows you to watch movies for free.

History tells us that sites that serve copyrighted media will go down just weeks after they are discovered. One example was Napster, served free mp3's for almost a year. It was shutdown by the RIAA, but reopened as a legal but paid mp3 site. But hey, lets YouKu while it lasts!

Youtube has also been full of controversy. It's been serving us music videos, also copyrighted.

The Blogger Codes of Conduct

There are lots of abusive bloggers out there. If you want to be a moral blogger, continue reading this post.
There is a Blogger's Code of Conduct proposed by Tim O'Reilly to enforce civility on their bloggers by being civil themselves and moderating comments on their blog-wiki.

There are seven things you must do to be a moral blogger:

1. Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.
My tip: Turn comment moderation on.

2. Label your tolerance level for abusive comments.
My tip: Change the comment form message to your comment policy.

3. Consider eliminating anonymous comments.
My tip: I dont really like this rule, since people can always use fake names and email addresses!

4. Ignore the trolls.
My tip: Trolls are defined as people who post like this:
today, I ate a sanwich. It bad - it was just ok, mediocre, I guess you could call it. After that I read a few chapters out of an Anne Rice book and was deeply moved by her erotic descriptions of gay vampires fornicating. <Insert narciccistic remark here>. Then I took a nap.

"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion." -wikipedia

These are people that posts nasty comments. They are annoying, but just ignore them.

5. Take the conversation offline, and talk directly, or find an intermediary who can do so.
My tip: If the conversation becomes too hot and/or you need to mention people, don't talk to each other through posts and comments, talk through IM or something like that.

6. If you know someone who is behaving badly, tell them so.
My tip: Just tell him/her, if he/she replies and says sorry, reply with a "Thank you for understanding :)". If they reply and he/she is now mad at you, start ignoring them.

7. Don't say anything online that you wouldn't say in person.
My tip: Say it offline by writing it on a piece of paper. Then throw the paper away(or burn it) and make sure no one else reads it. It'll make you feel better.

If you can master all that, your a moral blogger!

`Babangon ako't dudurugin kita` films at SSC-R de Cavite

My school, San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite (as long as school names come!, aka Baste) was chosen by GMA to films their newest teleserye(soap opera), "Babangon ako't dudurugin kita". Everyone(including me) was excited. But unfortunately, they film after class hours, at night when all the students aren't there anymore. :(

A while ago, GMA vehicles came to our school. A little while after that, a guy named "JC devera" came. He is in the teleserye, but I dont know him since I dont watch that much local shows.

This show was actually based on a movie with the same title from 1989.
And here's the cast:

Dina Bonnevie
Angelika dela Cruz as Via
Patrick Garcia
Marvin Agustin
Yasmien Kurdi as Salve
Glydel Mercado
Tonton Gutierrez
J.C. de Vera as Alfred

UPDATE: It seems that they will continue filming up to summer, thanks to Jonald Justine Itugot (a fellow sebastinian) for the info!

Possible Google-Microsoft war going on?

Just this day, a Windows update for IE7 came in and Windows was asking me to install it. After that, my Adsense ads no longer display on my site! (by the way, Google reapproved my account)

It is possible that this is just a bug, a security setting, I dont know. But if Internet Explorer blocks Adsense on purpose, Google would not be happy cause they'd lose the $2 billion Adsense brings each year. Google would be ready for the war.

And why would they declare war? It's would because of the Microsoft-Yahoo merge(see my previous post, "Microsoft and Yahoo [may] beat Google"), which main purpose was to beat Google.
